So this weekend I decided to go to Hue by myself, the other girls were heading to Hoi An but i had already been there so I had itchy feet to explore more of the East Coast. A few had been and said that it was a popular back backing destination so I knew I would meet plenty along the way. It started off with a 6hr train journey, it wasn't too bad though because I had a sleeper ticket which was a bed in an aircom dorm...heaven!! And the journey went along the coastline so the view was breathtaking. I eventually arrived and lodged into my hotel, which wasn't as luxurious as the one I stayed in Hoi An but at 9 euro per night I could not complain! I then went to find somewhere for food and bumped into a lovely English girl who joined me for dinner, was chuffed that I already made friends and was only there an hour. I had my first bit of Western food since I have been here, a hawaian pizza so it was a nice change from noodles and rice! I then went on a boat tour along the Perfume river and experienced a bit of Vietnamese music. After a quick dip in the pool it was bed time. Woke up early and decided to check into the backpackers hostel where the girl I met the night before was staying as there seemed to be a great buzz coming from it and was only 4 euro!! i then went to a cafe and booked a motorbike tour around all the hot spots. I drove one bike and followed the tour guide, we went through so really quaint villages and it was so nice to see the countryside away from the manic cities. We visited a lot of tombs and ruins that were all rich in history from the Vietnam War, was pretty cool. I them met up with a French girl and a Dane guy and went out for some food and drinks. We tried to make it our mission to invite someone from every country in Europe to join us and before we knew it we were in some cheesy karaoke booth with about 20 different nationalities singing "I will survive". Was a great weekend and it has definitely given me the confidence to go backpacking on my own as you will always meet awesome people on your route!
